Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin, both South Korean actors, have been cast as stars in the forthcoming historical love drama Lovers. MBC verified the news on January 13 through their Instagram account. The drama will be directed by Kim Sung-yong and written by screenwriter Hwang Jin-young.
The historical romance takes place during the Joseon period. It tells the tale of a guy who vows he would never fall in love again. However, the guy falls for a lady who has already had two disastrous marriages. The lady fantasizes about finding a new love. In the forthcoming drama, the characters of Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin will explore the themes of love and marriage.
In the forthcoming drama Lovers, Namgoong Min’s character Lee Jang-hyun is drawn to Yoo Gil-chae.
Namgoong Min will portray Lee Jang-hyun, a strange guy who appears unexpectedly in the elite society of Neunggeun Village. He seems frigid and unapproachable. After experiencing a harrowing and sad incident in his life, he finds nothing exciting and views the world from a bleak perspective. Things begin to change for Jang-hyun, though, when he meets Yoo Gil-chae. He has a strong attraction to her and is very interested in her life. The two characters’ personalities are diametrically opposed, as Yoo Gil-chae has a strong desire and will to live, whilst Lee Jang-hyun lacks.
Yoo Gil-chae is from a noble family. Her goddess-like beauty and charisma have made her renowned throughout society. She is even known as the socialite goddess. Gil-chaeis self-obsessed and believes in herself. She feels she can fascinate any guy on the planet.
Things begin to change for her when she experiences a horrible wartime crisis and falls deeply in love with a guy. When Jang-hyun and Gil-chae meet, they gradually develop affections for one another and learn the real meaning of love. Lovers will reunite Namgoong Min with director Kim Sung-yong. The pair previously collaborated on the 2021 action and thriller drama The Veil. Fans are thrilled to see them work on a new project in a different genre.
