Matty Gz, sometimes known as Matthew Cloth, was a 19-year-old rapper who died on November 3, 2022. It’s also unknown if the rapper, like many other musicians in recent years, was a victim of a gunshot. Simultaneously, there have been unsubstantiated claims of his death from a drug overdose. However, no formal confirmation has been provided.

The 19-year-old New York rapper has been recording songs for many years. His song Everybody K has over 130,000 YouTube views and was used on another track, Smoke Em, which has over 120,000 views. Matty Gz would use Instagram Live to communicate with his fans and followers. He didn’t have an official YouTube account, but he released his songs on Raps and Hustles. The channel has around 260,000 subscribers and mostly showcases musicians aspiring to fame in the music business. Matty was also active on Facebook, where he teased new projects. On July 5, 2022, he was last seen on social media.

In September 2022, Matty Gz was arrested and even marked the police precinct where he was being detained. According to the Staten Island Advance, Matthew tagged a police station after being jailed on counts of armed robbery in September of this year. Matty was apprehended on August 9, 2022. His victim was robbed while buying a dirt bike in Eltingville.

The heist occurred on August 1, 2022, when Matty and his accomplice allegedly grabbed a $2000 cash payment for a motocross bike. According to the court filings, he grabbed the sack containing the cash and placed it inside his car. He then climbed on his dirt bike and rode away from the scene. When the victim approached the vehicle to get his money, Matthew’s accomplice pulled out his revolver, aimed it at the victim, and fled. Matty was arrested on suspicion of robbery, petty larceny, threats, and harassment. He was subsequently freed on bail of $25,001. The rapper was observed carving his rap moniker on the internal wall of the 123rd Precinct stationhouse holding cell. Surveillance cameras captured the incident, as the young rapper engraved the name with a coin. He said he did it because he was bored.
