“The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House” Is Set To Released On Netflix

The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House, a new Netflix series from acclaimed Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda, is due to launch on the site on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 3 a.m. ET. It follows the narrative of a young girl who comes to Kyoto to pursue her ambition of becoming a Makanai, or traditional chef. The series is based on Aiko Koyama’s manga and stars Mori Nana in the main role, as well as a number of others in key supporting parts. Hirokazu Kore-eda is best known for his award-winning film Shoplifters.

According to the description and trailer, audiences can expect a warm, emotional drama that addresses a variety of intriguing subjects such as tradition, dreams, and the beauty of human connections, among others. The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House will allegedly include nine episodes, all of which will air on the same day, January 12, 2023.
