Neve Campbell Announces That She Will Not Return To The “Scream” Franchise

Neve Campbell, who initially starred in the Scream trilogy in her early twenties, will not return for Scream 6. Campbell has portrayed Sidney Prescott in every sequel from the original Scream film in 1996, including the 2022 sequel Scream 5. Neve Campbell, who has been linked with the Wes Craven-led series for almost 25 years, will not appear in Scream 6.

According to Neve Campbell:

“As a woman, I’ve had to work really hard throughout my profession to show my worth, particularly in Scream.” “I believed the offer made to me did not reflect the value I gave to the business.”

Campbell was supposed to reprise his role as Sidney in Scream 6, which was announced earlier this year, with production expected to begin this summer under the supervision of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who previously helmed Scream (2022). However, it’s clear from her statements that there was a mismatch between the Paramount offer and her projected earnings for Scream 6.

Details regarding Neve Campbell’s departure from Scream 6 have been revealed.

Neve Campbell will not reprise her role as Sidney Prescott in Paramount/Spyglass Media’s Scream 6. Campbell’s name started to travel on the convention circuit and, according to her, it still does.

Moving on has been a tough choice. I adore all of my Scream fans. You’ve always been really encouraging to me. I’ll be eternally thankful to you and the franchise for all it’s given me over the last 25 years.”

The newest Scream contributed to Paramount’s great box office year, grossing $140 million worldwide. Campbell makes a reappearance with Courteney Cox and David Arquette as the original Scream dramatis personae. Hayden Panettiere will reprise her role as Kirby Reed in the next Scream film, a character she first played in Scream 4. Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding will all return to reprise their roles in Scream 6.

The four survivors of the Ghostface murders depart Woodsboro and go on a new adventure in the second season, which premieres on March 31, 2023. The franchise has made approximately $744 million at the box office since the first film in the series was released in 1996. Campbell’s take-home pay for the first installment in the series, on the other hand, was about $1.5 million. Meanwhile, her compensation for Scream 2 and Scream 3 was allegedly increased to $3.5 million and $4 million, respectively.
