“Love, Lizzo” Is Set To Be Released On HBO Max Soon

Love, Lizzo, the highly anticipated HBO Max documentary that recounts Lizzo’s path from modest origins to popular stardom, is due to premiere on HBO Max on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at 3 a.m. ET/midnight PT. It comes with two of the streamer’s Christmas movies.

Doug Pray, recognized for researching unusual subcultures in his films, directed and co-produced the documentary with Lizzo as executive producer. Documentaries such as Hype! (about the Seattle grunge movement), Scratch (about DJ culture), Infamy (about graffiti culture), Surfwise (about the Doc Paskowitz family), and The Defiant Ones are among his works (Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine).

HBO Max’s Love, Lizzo will provide insight into the singer’s childhood.

On November 10, 2022, the trailer for Love, Lizzo was published, and the opening voiceover makes it apparent that the film is about music. It all starts with Lizzo saying:

“No matter where you enter my tale, I’m constantly following the music.”

The video takes us back to her childhood and is intercut with footage from live performances and studio sessions. There are also brief glimpses of Lizzo being interviewed, during which she discusses her fears as a child, the challenges she experienced, and the lack of chances for “a chubby, black kid who rapped, sang, and played the flute.”

The clip has an upbeat tone and exudes the optimism that Lizzo is renowned for. According to HBO Max, the official description of Love, Lizzo is as follows:

“Every now and again, an artist affects not just music, but also culture.” Lizzo has accomplished both. This is the story of a pioneering celebrity who, just by being herself, became the movement the world badly needed.”

It goes on:

“The HBO Max documentary LOVE, LIZZO tells the inspiring narrative of her modest origins to her stratospheric climb, providing an intimate look into the events that formed her hard-earned journey to recognition, prosperity, love, and worldwide acclaim.”

Love, Lizzo is the singer-second songwriter’s digital release, after the reality program Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, which debuted on Amazon Prime Video on March 25, 2022. In a May WarnerMedia news release promoting the documentary, Lizzo stated:

“I never imagined growing up that I’d get to experience all I’ve done in my life, and I’m just getting started.” “I’m thrilled to be able to share and relive my experience with my fans and HBO Max.”

She emphasized the events that will be included in the documentary, saying:

“From ‘Cuz I Love You’ through my dramatic world tour, losing and regaining love, and crafting my new album ‘Special,’ you’ll witness how much time, patience, blood, sweat, and tears went into this process.” It takes 10 years to become a “overnight hit,” and I wish to motivate other young creatives to persevere.”
