Abde Ezzalzouli Early Career
Ezzalzouli was in the academies of Pea Ilicitana Raval CF, CD Pablo Iglesias, Kelme CF, Promesas Elche CF, and CD Cultural Carrs. He tried out for Elche CF, the main club in his hometown, but was not given a spot in the academy.
Ezzalzouli kept playing for small clubs in Elche until Antonio Moreno Domnguez, the manager of Hércules B, offered him a contract. Ezzalzouli then joined the main club in nearby Alicante. In 2016, he joined the Hercules reserves. In 2019, he joined the main team.
Barcelona
On August 31, 2021, Ezzalzouli changed teams and moved to Barcelona B. He played his first game for Barcelona in a 1–1 draw with Alavés on October 30, 2021. He came on as a substitute in the 80th minute. So, Ezzalzouli became the first player born in Morocco to join the first team for Barça. In a 2-2 tie with Osasuna, he scored his first goal for Barcelona.
Abdessamad’s contract with Barcelona was extended until 2026 in September 2022, and he was then sent on loan to Osasuna. Abdessamad’s first game with Osasuna was on September 4 against Rayo Vallecano. After being taken off in the 81st minute, he helped set up the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win.
International Career
Ezzalzouli was on the under-20 team for Morocco at the 2020 Arab Under-20 Cup. He played in five games and scored two goals. Abdessamad turned down Vahid Halilhodi’s offer to play for the Moroccan national team at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations so he could focus on his club. This was on December 20, 2021.
On March 17, 2022, Ezzalzouli was named to the 26-person team that will play the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF Third Round. Ezzalzouli was asked to join the Moroccan national team in September 2022. In his first game, he played against Chile in a friendly at the RCDE Stadium in Cornellà de Llobregat. They won 2-0.
