He was obsessed with football from a young age.
From a young age, Saliba was obsessed with football. He said that when he was little, he was constantly playing football and that he has always liked football. He aspired to be a professional player since he was three years old, and it remained his passion throughout his life. Though his family did not share his enthusiasm for football, they gave him a ball when he was a child, and he has been playing football ever since it was his sole sport of choice. He joined the club when he was six years old. He was tutored by Kylian Mbappe’s father.

Saliba has always enjoyed both playing and watching football since he was a child. According to Saliba, he grew up watching all of the Champions League games and fell in love with Arsenal at the time. When he was approximately seven or eight years old, he wore an Arsenal jersey. Saliba was not always a strong defender. He was a striker till the age of 12. He only altered his position when he switched clubs. According to Saliba, his U15s coach, Abdallah, asked him what other position he could play since there were so many midfielders already there, and he said that he could play as a striker.
His coach said that he would be tested as a defender, and Saliba performed well. Following the competition, his coach said that defense was his new duty and that he would sign for it. Saliba has been playing as a defender since that day. He even took a striker test at Bordeaux.
