Desos & Mero, a late-night chat program hosted by Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, has ended. The Showtime sitcom was canceled when the team apparently broke up to pursue their own projects. In essence, the program will not be renewed for a fifth season. The last episode of the series starring the two, who have a combined net worth of $1.05 million according to NetWorthSpot, aired on June 23. A Showtime spokesman confirmed the cancellation of Desos & Mero, saying:
“Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will pursue distinct artistic ventures in the future.” Desus & Mero, Showtime’s late-night chat program, will not return for a fifth season.”
During the epidemic, the couple presented the program from their home, and they just resumed recording in person in their studio. After the format changed, fans of the program started to believe that it may be on its final legs. It used to be broadcast twice a week in previous seasons, but in the fourth season, it was reduced to once a week.

Desos & Mero ended after the fourth season due to the hosts’ desire to pursue different endeavors. The “quick-witted cultural analysts” of the Showtime series laughed about the week’s top news events and also hosted notable guests on their program. Desus also announced the cancellation of the performance on Twitter. The Jamaican-American comic The Desus Nice (actual name – Daniel Baker) and Dominican-American writer The Kid Mero (real name – Joel Martinez) launched the series in 2019 and it will end after 170 episodes covering four seasons.
Their series “earned a WGA Award, got Critics’ Choice nominations, and landed interviews with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Derek Jeter, Missy Elliott, Denzel Washington, Charlize Theron, David Letterman, Yo-Yo Ma, and many more.”
Desus & Mero was their third series together, premiering on Viceland in 2016. Prior to this, the pair presented a program on Complex TV in 2014. They even created their podcast, Bodega Boys, in 2015 and have now produced over 250 episodes. They even authored a best-selling book, God-Level Knowledge Darts: Life Lessons from the Bronx, which will be published in 2020.

When they were adolescents, the two met in the Bronx. They connected through their childhood memories, 90s hip-hop, and Yankees talk radio. During the encounter, Desus worked as a teaching assistant and Mero wrote for a Black entrepreneurial website. They began their internet career by sending out amusing tweets before launching their podcast and, ultimately, TV program.

Although many speculated about the cancellation of Season 5, the announcement did not go well. They vented their displeasure on Twitter. Fans are excited to hear about the duo’s future endeavors, but they still want to see them as hosts of new programs.
