Lee Min-ho’s Pachinko Has Been Nominated For Two 2022 Gothams

Pachinko, Lee Min-show, ho’s has received two nominations for the 2022 Gotham Independent Film Awards. The 32nd annual Gotham Awards were announced on October 25, and Pachinko received nominations for “Breakthrough Series – Long Form (over 40 minutes)” and “Outstanding Performance in a New Series,” both of which were earned by lead actress Kim Min-ha.

The popular Apple TV+ series was adapted from Korean-American novelist Min Jin Lee’s New York Times best-selling book of the same name. The story follows four generations of a Korean family living in Japan, dealing with themes of war, love, familial ties, friendship, separation, acceptance, and peace, with an incredible cast of Korean and Korean-American actors—Lee Min-ho, Kim Min-ha, Youn Yuh Jung, Jin Ha, Jung Eun-chae, Noh Sang-hyun, and Anna Sawai—as they navigate these issues.

The Gotham Independent Film Awards have merged the “Outstanding Performance in a New Series” award into one, rather than the previous gendered distinction based on male and female performers. As a result, Kim Min-ha, the protagonist of Pachinko, is nominated with both exceptional male and female contenders in the same category, including

  • This Is Going to Hurt, Ben Whishaw
  • Zahn McClarnon – Dark Winds Sue Ann Pien – As We See It
  • Yellowjackets’ Melanie Lynskey
  • Severance – Britt Lower
  • Sort Of Bilal Baig
  • The Bear, Ayo Edebiri
  • Abbott Elementary’s Janelle James
  • Matilda Lawler works at Station Eleven.

The drama will compete for the “Breakthrough Series – Over 40 Minutes” prize against some of the year’s most reputable titles, including Severance, Station Eleven, This Is Going to Hurt, and Yellowjackets. Fans of Pachinko have flocked to social media to congratulate the cast on their well-deserved nomination. The 32nd annual Gotham Independent Film Awards will be placed in New York City on November 28, at 7 p.m., and fans are hoping that Pachinko’s actors – Lee Min-ho, Kim Min-ha, and the series’ producers – will attend in person. Soo Hugh developed the series, which was directed by Kogonada and Justin Chon.

Lee Jung-jae was nominated for “Outstanding Performance in a New Series,” however he did not get the award.
